About Us

Derry Wright’s grandfather, Marion Wright, began farming in Ray County, Missouri in 1931. Marion and his wife, Lillian, raised 6 children on their farm near Hardin, working hard in their farming operation for over 50 years.  Derry began following his grandfather's footsteps in 1985, when at the young age of 16 he rented his grandparents’ farm and added new crops to his already-successful hog operation. This was the beginning of Wright Farms.   In the years following Derry has continued to add acres to his crop operation.  In August of 1998 Derry met his future “city girl” wife, Mary, and they were married in December of 1999.

Wright Farms expanded into the seed cleaning business in 1999 when he became an active partner in Letzig Seed.  Shortly afterwards we began cleaning, conditioning, and shipping seed for Stine Seed Company.  Letzig Seed also retails livestock feed and Stine seed to local farmers along with supplying grass seed, bird seed and wildlife improvement seed. 

In 2005 we grew again to add another love, purebred Charolais cattle. WC Charolais has become nationally recognized for our genetics. WC hosts an annual bull sale every March and annual female sale in December at our event center located at 24421 Highway 92 Excelsior Springs, Missouri .

In 2015 we added another fun adventure, a fresh meat market located in Liberty, Missouri.  The Upper Cut KC features a variety of meat options including Akaushi beef which has incredible flavor, tenderness and is a heart healthy beef.
